Distribution:


New Caledonia. Only known locality is Mountain Ignambi (a female collected in 1911); since then, a few unconfirmed reports exist by locals, last report is in 1976.


Status:


CRITICALLY ENDANGERED. CITES II

Any remaining population is assumed to be tiny (numbering fewer than 50 individuals and mature individuals), with no reports since 1976, despite recent searches in 1998.


Description:


  • Length: 20 cm (7,9 inch)
  • Weight: estimated 45gr.


Male: undesrcibed.


Female:

Crown violet-blue.

Throat and cheeks greenish-yellow.

forehead emerald green.

Ear coverts grass-green streaked with emerald-green.

thights are tinged with violet-blue.

Around the vent it's red.

The rest is green.
