Distribution:


Elevated parts (most are seen between 1000m-1200m ) of Solomon Islands S from Bougainville, including Kolombangara, Santa Isabel and Guadalcanal, and also New Georgia and Malaita (but no recent reports here); recorded once on Makira (San Cristobal).


Status:


Not globally threatened. Currently considered Near Threatened. CITES II

There are no data on population trends, however, the species is suspected to be declining slowly, owing to habitat degradation.


Description:


  • length:16 cm (6,3 inch)
  • weight: 23-32 gr.


Bright grass-green, with bluish green on the crown and olive-brown on the mantle.

The lower parts of the ear coverts and the sides of the neck are pale-green, streaked with darker green.

Underparts are yellowish-green.

Tail is above dark-green, tipped with yellow, the underside is bright yellow.
