Extreme E Solomon Islands (Santa Cruz Island, Duff Island, Reef Island), Banks Island and Vanuatu.


Status:


VULNERABLE. CITES II. Previously considered Near ­Threatened.

There are no data, however it is suspected to be declining, primarily due to deforestation.


Description:


  • length: 15-16,5cm (6 - 6,5 inch)
  • weight: 35- 45 gr.


Almost entirely green, the lower parts are lighter more yellowish-green.

The chin, area around the base of the bill is red, and some feathers of the cheeks are pale red.

underwingcoverts greyish-green.

Tail broadly tipped with yellow.

The mantle is washed with olive.

The bill is coral-red, the cere orange.


Sexual dimorphism:


The female got no or almost no red feathers on the chin and around the bill.
