Autosomal recessive mutation  X  Sex-linked recessive mutation


Here is it very important to remember how they inherits.

Let's use blue as the Autosomal recessive mutation and lutino (ino) as Sex-linked recessive mutation to create an albino (= double mutation of blue and lutino) I have written always after albino , (blue and lutino) because when you use these formula with another mutation it's easier by just change the name of the mutation and find the outcome. 



Note in lorikeets is lutino sex-linked in other parrots is sometimes lutino Autosomal recessive mutation, and sometimes is lutino in both forms in the same specie.




blue male x lutino female gives:


  • males 100% normal / blue and lutino


  • females 100% normal / blue


lutino male x blue female gives:


  • male 100% normal / blue and lutino


  • female 100%  lutino / blue


normal / blue and lutino male x blue female gives:


  • male 25% blue
  • male 25% blue / lutino
  • male 25% normal / blue
  • male 25% normal / blue and lutino


  • female 25% blue
  • female 25% normal / blue
  • female 25 % albino (=blue and lutino)
